For week 4 of observational drawing we had to focus on tone.
Overall I found the class to be quite helpful as tone is something that I've struggled with in the past. I decided to work with watercolours for this to make it a bit easier for me to work with different shades and also because I wouldn't be able to easily erase my mistakes. Usually while working with pencils and other similar materials I focus too much on making everything perfect and end up not finishing the drawing so I felt like this would be a good way to get around this. I started by drawing a mug, fork + spoon and a bell pepper to get used to watercolours which is why they look quite weird. The apple and the portrait weren't too hard to do however the room gave me quite a lot of trouble. I rarely draw rooms and furniture so this was quite experimental but I'm really happy with how it came out. I'm hoping to spend more time drawing furniture/rooms when I have time in the future to improve.
